Three years on from those sonic Signals first being detected Preacher have broadened their sound, shaken off their Pink Floyd shackles (a few songs on the debut found themselves turning to the Dark Side) and delivered Aftermath, an incredibly confident and contemporary progressive melodic rock album that nods to, rather than borrows from, their Floydian (and to a lesser degree David Bowie) influences. The songs are not long but they grow and breathe and unfurl over 5 minutes or more. You are taken on a journey with the sound; there are choirs, drums and beautiful soaring guitar lines on the opener that invite the Pink Floyd comparisons. Beautifully crafted modern rock music that worms it's way into your heart and soul and stays there.
Personnel: Martin Murphy - vocals, guitar, Arnold (Arny) Burgoyne - keyboards, Greg Murphy - lead guitar, Gordon Munro - bass, Iain Duncan - drums, Ron Rodger - acoustic guitar, Angela Bell - backing vocals, Kerry McWhinnie - backing vocals
