R&B From The Marquee (1962)

"R&B From The Marquee" was not a live album, nor was it cut at the Marquee: it was actually done at Decca Records' London studio, albeit in one long day's work and effectively live-in-the-studio. It was also the place where British blues began, at least as a recording proposition. The overall sound mixes the Chicago blues that they aspired to with their jazz and folk routes to produce a very individual sound that is uniquely British and of its time.
Personnel: Alexis Korner - guitar, acoustic guitar, vocal, Cyril Davies - vocal, harmonica, Dick Heckstall-Smith - tenor saxophone, vocal chorus, Keith Scott - piano, Spike Heatley - string bass, Graham Burbidge - drums, Long John Baldry - vocal, vocal chorus, Teddy Wadmore - bass guitar, Big Jim Sullivan - vocal chorus
